Plan changes happen on Settings → Plan. This article walks through the four scenarios that actually come up — upgrading, downgrading, switching between monthly and annual, and downgrading all the way to Free.

Where plan changes happen
Open Settings → Plan. The page shows your current plan with a Current plan badge, all available plans, a feature-comparison table, FAQ, and testimonials.
Everything else in this article is driven by what you click on this screen.
The pricing screen at a glance
Billing cycle toggle — Monthly / Annual (annual shows "2-MONTHS FREE").
Free row — the Free plan, callable out with "Start free" / "Downgrade to free" depending on your current plan.
Starter card — three sub-tiers ($19 / $49 / $99) with individual upgrade buttons.
Enterprise card — $249, with a "Book a meeting" button.
Discount code field — "Have a discount code?" (see Applying a discount code below).
Compare all features — the feature-by-feature matrix.
Upgrading to a higher plan
Open Settings → Plan.
(Optional) Switch to Annual if you want the discounted yearly price.
Click the upgrade button on the plan you want ("Upgrade" or "Upgrade (${price}/month)").
Confirm in the Shopify billing flow. Convi opens Shopify's confirmation page in the same window.
After confirmation, the plan flips immediately. Your resolution allowance jumps to the new plan's cap.
ℹ️ Note: Upgrades take effect immediately — both the new feature set and the new resolution limit are available right away.
Switching between monthly and annual
To switch billing cycles on your current plan:
Toggle the billing cycle at the top of the pricing screen.
Your current plan card will show Switch to annual or Switch to monthly.
Click — confirm in the Shopify billing flow.
The features stay identical; only the billing frequency (and effective per-month price) changes.
Downgrading to a lower paid plan
Switch to the lower-priced plan's row.
Click Downgrade to {plan}.
A confirmation dialog appears with two key points:
When the downgrade takes effect — either immediately or "at the start of your next billing cycle ({date})", depending on the downgrade.
What you'll lose — "Your resolution limit will decrease to {N} per month", and any plan-gated features you'll no longer have access to.
Click Confirm downgrade.
Convi shows a "Downgrade scheduled" status if the downgrade is queued for the next cycle, with the exact date — "Your plan will downgrade to {plan} on {date}. Until then, you'll continue to have full access."
Downgrading to Free (cancel)
Downgrading to the Free plan is treated the same as a cancellation — when it takes effect, the storefront widget is removed.
Click Downgrade to free on the Free row.
A confirmation dialog spells out what happens:
The widget is removed from your live storefront.
"Your conversation history will be preserved."
"Your plan will downgrade to Free on {date}. Until then, you'll continue to have full access."
If you're on Enterprise: "You'll lose dedicated account manager and priority support" and "Private API key access will be revoked."
Click Confirm downgrade.
Convi shows "Downgrade to free scheduled" on the Free row until the change takes effect.
Cancelling a scheduled downgrade
If you've scheduled a downgrade and change your mind:
Open Settings → Plan. A banner near the top shows the scheduled downgrade.
Click Cancel scheduled downgrade. Convi will keep you on your current plan past the previously scheduled date.
You can cancel anytime before the date the downgrade was scheduled to take effect — "You can cancel this downgrade anytime before {date}."
Applying a discount code
If you have a discount code (e.g., a promo from Convi support or the welcome offer):
On Settings → Plan, click Have a discount code? to expand the field.
Enter the code and click Apply.
If the code is valid, you'll see a confirmation: "{discount}% off for {N} month(s) is applied. We wish you all the success!".
The discount applies on your next upgrade or plan change.
If the code isn't recognized, you'll see "Coupon code is not found."
💡 Tip: If you finished the Finish setup checklist on Home, your "🎁 Your free month is unlocked" banner shows a discount code worth one full month on any paid plan. Copy it and paste it here.
A few practical notes
Upgrades are immediate. Downgrades default to next billing cycle unless explicitly stated as immediate in the confirmation dialog.
Conversation history is preserved on every change, including downgrade to Free.
The widget goes offline only on downgrade to Free (and is reactivated the moment you upgrade again, provided the app embed is still on in your theme).
You can cancel any time without fees, cancellation penalties, or contracts. From the pricing FAQ: "You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades to Free are scheduled for the end of your billing cycle. No contracts or cancellation fees."
